What Are You Missing During Quarantine?

It’s early in April, and here in Florida, we are under quarantine until at least the end of the month.  We’ve been doing this social isolation thing for a few weeks now, and I think we would all agree that we are ready for this thing to be done.  As we’ve been so isolated in our homes and away from each other, it has really made me stop and think about all the things that I normally take for granted or don’t think about and how much I miss specific things.  I thought it would be a good exercise for all of us to spend some time pondering what is it that we miss, what really matters in life, and what we are looking forward to whenever we finally get on the other side of this thing.  I’ll start….

I miss people.

I miss the physical presence of another (video is great but not the same!).

I miss hugs.

I miss playing music with my orchestra.

I miss seeing my coworkers in the office.

I miss camaraderie.

I miss sitting in person with my clients.

I miss being able to go places without worrying if I’m going to get sick.

I miss having more options.

I miss community.

I miss celebrations.

I miss living in a world with less anxiety and fear.

I think it is important for us to verbalize what we miss because we are all grieving in some form or another the loss of life before Covid-19.  I do believe we will come out on the other side of this and rebuild and be better than before, but life will not look the same as it did only a couple of months ago.  Be honest about your struggles and what you miss.  You are not alone!

Join us in this process and list some of the things you miss in the comments below!
