Susan Williams believes that life is never about the destination and always about the journey. She also feels that to companion one along the journey, helping to empower the individual(s) to access their own strengths and inner knowing, is one of the highest of honors. This perspective fosters her passion for mental health advocacy and awareness.

Susan has a diverse and extensive background in the arts and education. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She is an adoptee and through this lived experience approaches the counseling and healing process in a creative way, exploring and utilizing one’s thoughts, behaviors, sensory, physical, and spiritual experiences to uncover and integrate deeper awareness. Therapeutically, Susan applies person centered, strength-based, narrative, and systems’ techniques.

She holds a bachelors and masters from Rollins College. She is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (IMH24295). She has specialized training in EMDR, expressive arts and various family and relationship methodology, including Gottman, Imago and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She completed her internship with an intense focus on grief and loss, working with families that lost children.

Susan encourages all to “Just begin.” Renew Counseling is a collaborative group of counselors working to improve the central Florida community, one beautiful human being at a time.
