Mental Health During the Holiday Season

‘Happy Holidays’ is a common phrase we hear around this time of year. For many no matter what you celebrate this time is usually associated with joy and being around family and loved ones. However, this is sadly not the truth for everyone, especially during this time. Many of us are faced with isolating ourselves from loved ones because of COVID or at the very least not traveling to see others. I know in my own life I usually travel to see loved ones, but sadly we’ve had to stay home this year, and I’m sure this is the same for many other families out there also. Outside of COVID, there are also many people who may not view the holiday season favorably for an abundance of reasons. This may be due to a traumatic event connected to this time, stress and anxiety around shopping or seeing family members, or even just the expectations and societal pressures during this time. This is why I wanted to focus this week on how to combat this stress anxiety found during this time and how to stay connected with loved ones when it may seem impossible at times.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays to All!
