Mental Health and the Military

The Real Fight Faced on Memorial Day — UNCrushed

Memorial day is a time of remembrance and reflection for all those who joined the military and lost their lives in the process, However, a large percentages of those who lost their life was due to lack of adequate access and knowledge to mental health services. Over 30% of those returning military  veterans will experience some form of mental health issues as a result of being deployed; however, only half of these veteran actually receive treatment for any mental health issue. Due to this almost 20 veterans a day will die by suicide. Though this number may seem high it is an accurate representation of the lack of adequate care the government gives to those who fight to protect it.
