Mental Health in the LGBTQ+ Community (Suicide & Substance Abuse)

The LGBTQ+ community has some of the highest rates of suicide and substance use problems/ disorders.

For many of those in this community that has dealt with traumatic experiences and are unable to find a solid support system may look towards other things to help them cope. For some, this may lead to a dangerous route of substance abuse, or other unhealthy coping mechanisms. But for very many suicide has been seen as their only option.

This is a tragic reality in this community especially since the majority of those who are choosing to un-alive themselves are young adults and adolescents. Below are hotlines for both substance abuse and suicide prevention.
