After last week’s small break from the series we are back on track for our Understanding Trauma Series. In this post, we will highlight an article for the American Psychological Association which deals with HEALTHY coping mechanisms for dealing with Trauma. The word “healthy” is very important to highlight because there are hundreds of thousands of coping mechanisms one can try, it is never one type fits thing, but it is also important to know what mechanism you use is unhealthy.
Some of the main mechanisms highlighted are:
- Lean on Loved ones
- Face your feelings
- Prioritize Self Care
- Be Patient
