Many of those in the LGBTQ+ have experienced traumatic events at an alarmingly higher rate than many other communities. This may be through bullying, discrimination, prejudice one has experienced. Many of those in this community have experienced some type of negative experience due to their sexuality, gender, gender preference, or lack thereof. Because of this increased risk, many of those who identify with being in this community is at a higher risk of being diagnosed with PTSD and acute traumatic stress disorder.
This is why we fight for inclusion and equality for all groups. Without this, we are putting others’ health at risk especially our adolescents.
