Who Moved My Cheese

Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson is a short motivational book about dealing with change in work and life. The story follows four characters—two mice, Sniff and Scurry, and two little people, Hem and Haw—who live in a maze and search for “cheese,” which represents happiness, success, security, or anything we desire in life.

When the cheese they depend on suddenly disappears, each character reacts differently. Sniff and Scurry quickly accept the change and go searching for new cheese, while Hem resists, complains, and stays stuck in fear and frustration. Haw is hesitant at first, but eventually learns that adapting to change is necessary for growth and happiness.

Through this simple allegory, the book teaches that change is inevitable, and the sooner we accept it and move forward, the easier it is to find new opportunities. Its main message is that holding on to the past can keep us stuck, while embracing change leads to personal and professional success.
